Job Description
Position Overview
The Saskatchewan Trucking Association (STA) is seeking a results-driven, relationship-focused professional to lead membership growth, engagement, and stakeholder relationships during a period of organizational transition and opportunity.
This role is accountable for growing and strengthening STA’s membership, ensuring a high-quality member experience, and supporting STA’s government relations activities. The position combines business development, member service leadership, event engagement, and government and industry liaison responsibilities.
This is a front-facing, growth-oriented role that represents STA with members, prospective members, government, and industry stakeholders. While the role includes select administrative and operational responsibilities, its primary mandate is membership value creation and growth.
Primary Accountability
The Manager, Membership Development & Government Relations is responsible for driving sustainable membership growth and engagement, protecting and expanding key relationships, and ensuring members clearly see the value of STA membership.
Key Responsibilities
Membership Growth & Retention (Primary Focus)
- Develop, execute, and continuously refine membership recruitment and retention strategies aligned with STA’s strategic priorities
- Proactively identify and pursue new membership opportunities across carriers, affiliates, and industry partners
- Build and maintain strong, ongoing relationships with existing members to strengthen retention and increase engagement
- Conduct regular outreach to at-risk, disengaged, and high-potential members
- Identify opportunities to grow membership-related revenue through programs, training, sponsorships, and services
- Monitor membership trends, attrition risks, and engagement levels and provide recommendations to leadership
Member Engagement & Service Leadership
- Serve as a key point of contact for member inquiries, onboarding, and relationship management
- Ensure a high level of professionalism, responsiveness, and consistency in member service delivery
- Oversee member lifecycle processes, including onboarding, renewals, and engagement touchpoints
- Collaborate with internal staff to ensure members receive timely, accurate, and relevant information
- Represent the “voice of the member” within STA by relaying feedback, concerns, and emerging issues
Government Relations & Stakeholder Engagement
- Support STA’s government relations efforts through relationship management and stakeholder engagement
- Maintain active working relationships with relevant government departments, agencies, and industry partners
- Assist with coordination and support of committees related to policy, regulatory, and advocacy priorities
- Support member inquiries related to regulatory and compliance issues in coordination with STA leadership and policy staff
- Gather and communicate member insights to inform STA advocacy positions and government engagement strategies
- Represent STA at government, industry, and stakeholder meetings as required
Events, Programs & Industry Presence
- Leverage STA events, meetings, and programs as tools for membership growth, recruitment, and engagement
- Support the planning and delivery of member events, awards programs, and industry activities
- Build relationships through in-person engagement at events, member sites, and industry functions
- Support sponsorship and exhibitor engagement in alignment with revenue and relationship objectives
Operations & Administration (Supportive Role)
- Maintain accurate membership and contact data within STA systems and CRM
- Support membership invoicing, renewals coordination, and reporting in collaboration with finance and administrative support
- Contribute to surveys, reports, and membership data analysis as needed
- Support internal reporting and planning activities as required

Qualifications
- Post‑secondary education in business, communications, public administration, policy, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Experience in the trucking and logistics field is an asset
- Demonstrated experience in membership development, business development, sales, stakeholder relations, or association management
- Proven ability to build relationships and drive engagement and growth
- Experience working with government, industry associations, or regulated sectors is a strong asset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working independently, managing multiple priorities, and engaging externally
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 and CRM systems
- Ability to travel within Saskatchewan as required
