CTA Welcomes the Bloc Quebecois Support for Ending Driver Inc.
Oct 09, 2025
Xavier Barsalou-Duval, Critic for the Bloc Québécois on Transport, Infrastructure, Communities & the Monarchy, today provided his party’s vision for dealing with the crisis in the trucking industry known as Driver Inc.
The Bloc’s plan outlined several key areas and recommendations that would assist in combatting unsafe trucking companies, unqualified commercial drivers and the out-of-control underground economy that is destroying the ability of law-abiding carriers to compete in the sector.
The plan is in response to growing frustration from the motoring public who fear the increase of unsafe trucks and drivers being put on the road by unscrupulous carriers.
“The CTA would like to thank Mr. Barsalou-Duval for his leadership on this critical issue,” said CTA president & CEO Stephen Laskowski. “CTA looks forward to working with the Bloc and all federal parties to find alignment on our vision, including how to restore order to our industry, which has been overtaken by lawless owners who prioritize their bottom lines while making our highways unsafe.”
The comprehensive approach put forward by the Bloc covers several important issues related to the Driver Inc crisis , and includes other ideas that could potentially be developed.
“While the CTA would recommend some different solutions and approaches to portions of the proposal, it is a good framework and one that all parties should examine and discuss with the industry,” said Laskowski.
The Quebec Trucking Association (QTA) also supported the Bloc’s position to help put an end to the Driver Inc. scheme.
Fed up with rampant lawlessness throughout Canada’s trucking industry and years of disregard from Ottawa and many provinces, the Canadian Trucking Alliance this week launched Stop Illegal Trucking – a national campaign to end the illicit Driver Inc scheme destroying Canada’s trucking industry, abusing workers and engaging in human trafficking, threatening the safety of the travelling public, and costing Canadians billions.
